A une époque où les antibiotiques montrent certaines limites, la lutte contre les infections bactériennes est devenue un des enjeux majeurs en matière de santé publique. En conséquence, des stratégies alternatives et complémentaires à l’antibiothérapie sont (ré)envisagées, parmi lesquelles l’utilisation des bactériophages. Ainsi, ces virus tueurs de bactéries, naturellement présents dans l’environnement, reviennent sur le devant de la scène après que leur utilisation thérapeutique (phagothérapie) aie été totalement oubliée en Suisse et en Europe occidentale pendant plus d’un demi siècle. Au travers d’une présentation conviviale, le Dr. Grégory Resch vous invite à découvrir la fascinante « histoire » de ces ennemis de bactéries qui pourraient bien (re)devenir demain nos meilleurs amis!
At a time when antibiotics are showing some limitations, the battle against bacterial infections has become one of the major concerns for public health. In consequence, alternative strategies and additional anti-bio-therapies are being (re)considered, among these the use of bacteriophage. So, these bacterial-killing viruses, naturally found in the environment, are coming back on stage after their therapeutic use (phage therapy) had been totally forgotten in Switzerland and in Western Europe over more than half a century. Through his presentation, Dr. Grégory Resch invites you to discover the fascinating "story" of these enemies of bacteria, that could (tomorrow) become our best friends!
