La qualité de l’eau du lac – Montreux 2023

La surveillance de la qualité de l’eau du lac sera effectuée pour cet été encore par le laboratoire communautaire Hackuarium. Elle bénéficiera à nouveau du soutien du Montreux Jazz Festival. Les membres de l'association suisse d'utilité publique Hackuarium s'intéressent tout particulièrement à la démocratisation de la recherche par l'engagement du public. Nous analyserons des échantillons d'eau provenant de trois sites autour de la baie de Montreux pendant une période de huit semaines en utilisant des méthodes microbiologiques, dans l'intérêt de la santé publique. Nous avons déjà reçu et commencé les premiers tests de contrôle à l’aide de cartes microbiennes spéciales, qui montrent les espèces de bactéries ''bioindicatrices'' de pollution par leur couleur, et n'utilisent pas trop de plastique.
La campagne de huit semaines d'échantillonnages débutera le 12 juin, se poursuivra pendant le Festival de Jazz (du 30 juin au 15 juillet) et se poursuivra jusqu'au 31 juillet. Cette année, nous utiliserons également un incubateur simple et efficace de "matériel scientifique ouvert".
Après des inquiétudes concernant des affections cutanées et des troubles gastro-intestinaux chez les sauveteurs locaux, nous avons documenté l'"effet Jazz" de la pollution se déversant dans le lac pendant le festival de musique en 2016/2017, qui ne s’est pas reproduit en 2020 pendant le confinement de la pandémie.

Lake Water Quality – Montreux 2023
Lake water quality monitoring for this summer is planned again by the community laboratory, Hackuarium. Once again, this work will be supported by the Montreux Jazz Festival. Members of the public service Swiss association, Hackuarium, are particularly interested in democratising research through engagement of the public. We will test water samples from three sites around Montreux bay over an eight-week period using microbiological methods, for the sake of public health. We have
already received and begun initial control tests of the special microbial cards, which show the 'bioindicator' species of bacteria by colour, and don’t use too much plastic.
The eight-week sampling campaign will begin on the 12th of June, continue during the Jazz Festival (30 June to 15 July) and run until the 31st of July. We will also be using a simple and effective "open science hardware" incubator this year.
After concerns about skin ailments and gastrointestinal disorders among local lifeguards, we documented a "Jazz effect" of pollution entering the lake during the music festival in 2016/2017, which was not observed in 2020 during pandemic lockdown.
